6th Annual Made in the Shade Recap
If we were in charge of ordering the weather on Saturday, we would give ourselves an standing ovation! However, we were not so we must give Mother Nature the kudos! With sunny skies and a cool breeze, over 200 of Homeward Bound's most ardent supporters attended our 6th Annual Made in the Shade event at Thomas Beach at Lake Calhoun.
Thank you to everyone who supported Homeward Bound. Our support came from many avenues: the walkers, the rollers, the pledge collectors, the volunteers, and the corporate and civic sponsors! Homeward Bound's sponsors this year included, Xcel Energy, Brooklyn Center Lioness Club, Co-op Partners Warehouse, Cub Foods, Great Harvest Bread Company, Holiday Station Stores, Maple Grove Lions Club, Plymouth Lions, and VFW Post 494 from Crystal! We even had Saint Paul College and Century College instructors and students come and support Homeward Bound by walking and making pledges on our behalf!
The money the individuals raise for their houses goes to providing the means to attend community or sporting events, items for their homes, a special outing, such as a cruise around Lake Minnetonka. Some of the houses have even been able to buy handicap accessible wheelchair swings for their patios!
